It’s been almost a year since the pop superstar walked the red carpet at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards in an outfit made of meat, and now the dress is back.
Starting today (June 16th), the dress created by designer Franc Fernandez and stylist Nicola Formichetti will be on display at the “Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power” exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. When [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] spoke about the meaning behind the dress, she said “For me this evening, if we don’t stand up for what we believe in and if we don’t fight for our rights pretty soon, we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on own bones. And, I am not a piece of meat.”
Of course many measures were taken to make the dress presentable for display, including being held in a meat locker, chemical treatment, being placed on a body form and being painted to bring back that raw meat color.
Also on display will be Lady Gaga’s childhood piano, and an Armani Prive gown the fashion icon wore to the 2011 Grammy’s. The exhibit is open till February 2012.
