In an interview with Rolling Stone, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]John Mayer[/lastfm] admits that he was a “tweetaholic.”
Mayer had around 4 million followers during the peak of his Twitter phase, and his knack for over-sharing pushed many a tweet into the news. Then it seemed that the singer had had enough of the social network.
Mayer explains, “I had four million Twitter followers, and I was always writing on it. And I stopped using Twitter as an outlet and I started using Twitter as the instrument to riff on, and it started to make my mind smaller and smaller and smaller. And I couldn’t write a song.”
Now that his tweeting days are over, Mayer says that all of his focus is on making music. And considering the lack of public appearances, hook-ups, and controversial interviews, it seems that he is taking that seriously.
