American tattoo artist, Kat Von D, made her musical debut this weekend at a benefit performance in Los Angeles.
Famous for her tattoo artistry on TLC’s LA Ink, Kat Von D took a night off from the parlor to show off her musical talent at An Evening With Women, benefiting the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center. Along with Limp Bizkit member Wes Borland on bass and Danny Lohner, who has worked with Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson, on guitar, Ms. Von D played the keyboard and sang a rendition of Bronki Beat’s “Small Town Boy.” For her first time in front of an audience, the LA Ink star sounded great!
Von D, Borland, and Lohner have been working on music of their own for a while. She even updates her fans via twitter about the songs they’ve written. Turns out, Kat Von D isn’t such a stranger to music. “I’ve been passionate about music all my life,” said Von D in an interview with E! News. “I’ve been playing classical piano since I was 6. So I understand the form, but it will be fun to be able to translate a message. I think it’s much like tattooing or the TV show or makeup, my clothing line, fashion. All those things, they’re just different outlets to be able to be creative. So music, I think it’s going to be one of those things.”
Kat Von D has received endless praise since tweeting a video of the performance. You can tell how grateful she is for her fans with her response, “Wow. Thank you so much for all the kind and sweet comments on the video I just posted. Was definitely shy to share it with everyone.”
Don’t be shy, Kat! There’s no doubt you could have a successful career in music.
