Are you a die-hard Elvis fan? Do you own all the collectibles? Well here’s something to add to your collection: his grave. When Elvis Presley died in 1977, his body was buried in a mausoleum in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee. Two months later, the grave was opened up when his and his mother’s bodies were moved to the Graceland estate. Now, one fan who is willing to drop the cash can rest in peace in The King’s original grave.
Elvis’ original crypt will be part of the annual Music Icons auction, taking place this June 23rd & 24th, but it ain’t gonna be cheap. The starting price is said to be $100,000! And with all the buzz this “item” has already created, we can only imagine how much this eternal resting place will cost the lucky (more like wealthy) fan.
The event will be hosted by Julien’s Auctions. Darren Julien, president and CEO, says there has been growing interest from all over the world! “When you’re an avid fan of somebody, it’s a little different than most things, like something he wore on stage, it’s more of an investment,” he said. “But it’s all a way to be a part of pop culture history. Fans, especially Elvis fans, want everything that has to do with him.”
