The World’s Most Expensive Burgers
Hamburgers are a staple in American cuisine. Two establishments in New York City are about to change the way you view (and eat) this classic fast food fare. Oh, and did I mention they are the two most expensive burgers you will ever encounter?
The popular Serendipity 3 is known for serving some of the priciest and most indulgent foods around. So, it is no surprise that they serve a hamburger worth a whopping $295. And what is in this incredibly expensive burger? The burger aptly named “Le Burger Extravagant” is made of:
“[a] mix of Japanese Waygu beef infused with 10-herb white truffle butter, seasoned with Salish Alderwood smoked Pacific sea salt, topped with cheddar cheese – hand-formed by the famous cheesemaker James Montgomery in Somerset, England, and cave-aged for 18 months – shaved black truffles, a fried quail egg and served on a white truffle-buttered Campagna Roll, which is topped with a blini, creme fraiche, and Paramout Caviar’s exclusive Kaluga caviar – a beautiful golden caviar with a buttery, nutty taste and large pearls from the Huso Dauricus farm raised in Quzhou, China.”
Whew. The combination of exclusive hard-to-find ingredients justify this indulgent treat.
It currently holds the title of “World’s Most Expensive Burger”. However, 666 Burger, a food truck in New York famously known for stamping its burger buns with a pentagram, just announced “Le Burger Extravagant’s” main competitor: $666 “Douche Burger”. The ridiculously overpriced burger contains kobe beef patty with caviar, lobster, truffles, Gruyere cheese melted by champagne steam and a sauce made with rare Kopi Luwak coffee beans that have passed through the digestive tract of an Asian civet. Demonically delicious or an attempt at poking fun at Serendipity 3’s creation?
A picture of “The Douche Burger” has yet to prove its existence (the owners of 666 Burger insists it is real), so the title stays with “Le Burger Extravagant”.
