American Idol winner Phillip Phillips finally gets the surgery he needs.  After several hours under the knife, Phillips is on the mend.

The 21-year-old heartthrob went under the knife yesterday after months of putting off the recommended surgery to remove massive kidney stones.

TMZ is reporting yesterday’s 6 and a half hour-long surgery took place in L.A., and Phillips is resting up for the American Idol Live Tour kicking off in July.

Phillips had been suffering through the entire season of American Idol, and nearly dropped out a few weeks before the finale due to excruciating pain.   According to his father, Phillip had only been hitting 50 percent during his performances on the show.

Wow!  If Phillips had only been performing at 50 percent while dealing with his medical issues, it will be exciting to see how he does at 100 percent when the American Idol Tour comes to Sacramento’s Power Balance Pavilion July 21st.
