California State Fair Food: 11 New Tasty Treats For 2012
Among the corn dogs and funnel cakes the 2012 California State Fair food menu will feature DEEP-FRIED CHEESEBURGERS! Of course whenever an adventurous new menu item is introduced we must ask, “why?” The answer is always the same — “why not?”
I don’t know if the deep-fried cheeseburger will be served on a stick, but it will come five-alarm style which sounds painful.
For the picky kids who won’t eat anything they may like the deep-fried mac ‘n’ cheese on a stick, deep-fried grilled cheese sandwiches or the peanut butter & jelly sundaes.
If my husband wanders off I know I’ll eventually find him at the booth selling the Big Beef Rib – two pounds of beef attached to a 17-inch beef rib bone smoked for three hours then finish over a mesquite fire. Yabba dabba dooo!
Maybe the pork chop on a stick is more to your liking, with a grilled Caesar salad and sorbetto-filled fresh fruit, yummm.
Save room for dessert, you’ll need it. The newest edition to the California State Fair food menu includes deep-fried cinnamon rolls with icing and caramel-apple sundaes. And we wonder why Americans are so overweight.
For a tasty little treat how about some chocolate covered wine grapes? Could they possibly taste like chocolate covered raisins, just juicier.
We’ll get to fill our bellies when the California State Fair opens July 12 – July 29 at Cal Expo.
