The 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Show

No, Coldplay is not number one. Not even close.  With gross earnings of $73 million so far Coldplay’s ‘Mylo Xyloto’ trek around the globe is a huge money-maker, but Chris Martin and the gang are only number four on Pollstar’s Mid-Year list of the Top 50 Worldwide Tours. Yep, $73 million isn’t even within spitting distance of what the top earner has raked in so far.

Dominating the list is Former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters with ‘The Wall’ tour, which earned $158.1 million. Water’s has been touring around the world performing his Pink Floyd era double album live for the past two year, and fans continue to pay top dollar for the over-the-top theatrical show. If you had an opportunity to see the lavish show you know why it was worth every penny of the ticket price.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are doing pretty well on their ‘Wrecking Ball’ Tour with nearly $80 million in the bank at this point, putting them in the runner-up position.

The biggest surprise on the list comes in at number three with $78.5 million. Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson tribute was in the third spot in the worldwide totals – BUT – is #1 for North American Tour.

Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way Ball’ rounds out the top five with a gross of $67.2 million and counting.

Don’t count out Madonna yet. Her tour just began in Israel May 31st, and her ‘MDNA’ tour hasn’t even made it to the states yet. Once the cash gets counted, we could possibly have a new contender for the top spot.
