John Key Opens New Classroom Block At Westminster Christian School

A warning to all parents! Our kids backpacks, binders and even their lunch boxes have been found to contain harmful toxins. High levels of phthalate (PVC) have been found lurking in 75% of the most popular back-to-school items, especially those made of vinyl.

The Center for Health, Environment and Justice (CHEJ) found the chemicals high above the federal limit for toys, but because school supplies are not regulated in the same was as toys I guess that means it ok for manufactures to poison our kids? Geez!

The products affected are especially popular with the youngest children, like Disney, Spiderman, and Dora the Explorer vinyl backpacks, lunch boxes, 3-ring binders, rain coats and rain boots.

These chemicals have no place in kids’ products. They’re banned in toys – but there is no such ban for school supplies…USED BY CHILDREN!

Families are being urged to reduce their kids exposure to these vinyl products. Don’t assume that they are safe just because it’s on the store shelves.  It’s shameful they were allowed in stores at all!

This isn’t new. We’ve been fighting this battle for a couple of years now. Why? These products need to be banned immediately.

Grrrrrr! This mama bear is angry!
