Barrymore’s Disappearing Act
After the birth of baby Olive four months ago, Drew Barrymore dropped from the red carpet and the public eye. Barrymore, in recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine, claims to have hidden “like the Unibomber” from the spotlight.
Barrymore has grown up in the public eye, ever since her role in E.T., the Extraterrestrial in 1982 at the age of seven. However, when it comes to baby Olive, the first child of hers with art consultant husband Will Kopelman, Barrymore is showing her protective motherly side. “I had such an exposed childhood…I appreciate my journey, but I don’t want that for my kid…As a parent, that isn’t the childhood that I’d provide.”
Barrymore has spoken, and we hope that she and Kopelman will be successful in providing the normal, media-free childhood for Olive that she wishes for. We saw how Lindsay Lohan turned out from growing up in the public eye, so if Olive matures better than Lohan, then Barrymore will have done a great job! What do you think? Is Barrymore making the right choice for her child? There are heavy pressures for living life under the magnifying glass, but also huge rewards! Let us know in the comments below.
