With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, you may be starting to panic about what to get your significant other for the big day.
According to a new survey by American Express, the average man will spend $272 on Valentine’s Day (women $207), which is a lot of money for one day but considering the cost of flowers, dinner and a great gift (usually jewelry), it’s not too surprising. Whatever you end up buying, keep this in mind: six million people are planning to propose or are EXPECTING to get a proposal this Valentine’s Day. The survey didn’t reveal the percentage split, but it’s probably safe to say that millions of women are going to be angry if it doesn’t happen.
Obviously don’t go for the proposal (and don’t expect one) if the time isn’t right for you two, but also keep in mind the average cost of an engagement ring in 2013 is $2,410.
You can breathe a sigh of relief though, because 30% of women in relationships also revealed they think the holiday is overrated!
