Joaquin Phoenix never ceases to amaze us, whether he’s performing, or being touted in the media as a crazy person.  Well the latter is true today, with Phoenix participating in a video where he is actively drowning.  We know, it takes a while to sink in.

Phoenix is advocating veganism in the video seen here by trying to mimic a fish’s last moments in life.  Phoenix, who is an avid supporter of PETA, is doing his best to convince viewers to “go vegan”.  He gasps for air underwater in the video, and the panic is apparent in his eyes.  Phoenix strives to insinuate through this performance that fish can experience similar emotions to humans and that it is inhumane to kill and eat them.  By placing himself in the fish’s position, the actor is doing his best to shock audiences into change.

While we’re not sure if this video is doing the job, it definitely reinforces one belief:  there is no one like Joaquin Phoenix.
