Over the last few years, as Black Friday sales have gotten increasingly more ridiculous, there has been a wave of backlash against retailers staying open on Thanksgiving day to get a head start on holiday sales. The backlash stems, primarily, from workers who are forced to work on the national holiday.
This year, Mall of America is setting an example that may reverberate through the retail community. They are staying closed all day on Thanksgiving. What a novel concept!
USA Today reports the mall will officially re-open at 5 a.m. on Black Friday.
