Wow, this is exciting and still on our Northern California bucket list! A new room is now open to the public at the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose! A preservation team just discovered the attic room that’s been boarded up since the owner of the mansion, Sarah Winchester, died in 1922.
Apparently Sarah had the room boarded closed after a 1906 earthquake, because she believed evil spirits caused the earthquake. The room, which will now be open to the public, is full of vintage items including a pump organ, Victorian couch, sewing machine and paintings. The Winchester Mystery House is offering candlelight tours of the mansion on weekends through Halloween night. SPOOKY!!
