The “Redskins Rule” Usually Predicts Who Will Win The White House

Do you remember hearing about the “Redskins Rule?” It probably came up back in 2012.

Here’s the deal. Washington Redskins fans aren’t the only ones celebrating yesterday’s win, that’s because historically, when the Redskins win the last home game before Election Day, the incumbent party usually wins. Well, Washington beat Philadelphia 27-20 yesterday, which is a good sign for Hillary Clinton. The “Redskins Rule” has predicted which party will win the presidency 17 times since 1940. But, obviously, it’s not always accurate.  The “Redskins Rule” was incorrect two of the last three times – in 2004 and 2012.
