To wear yoga pants or not to wear yoga pants!? That is the question in 2016. Well, a guy in Rhode Island says you should stop wearing yoga pants in public. Alan Sorrentino wrote a letter to the editor in the Barrington Times calling yoga pants the “absolute worst thing to ever happen” in women’s fashion.
In his letter, Sorrentino writes:
“Yoga pants can be adorable on children and young women who have the benefit of nature’s blessing of youth. However, on mature, adult women there is something bizarre and disturbing about the appearance they make in public. Maybe it’s the unforgiving perspective they provide, inappropriate for general consumption, TMI, or the specter of someone coping poorly with their weight or advancing age.” He finished the letter writing, “I struggle with my own physicality as I age. I don’t want to struggle with yours.”
Well, hundreds of women in RI do not. They’ve since taken to the streets to protest his open letter, yes wearing yoga pants, and holding signs that read, “We wear what we want” and “Love Yourself.”
