La La Land Ties Academy Awards Nomination Record

The Oscar nominations are out and La La Land has scored big!

According to Entertainment Weekly, the critically and commercially successful La La Land just raked in 14 Academy Award nominations. This ties the film with only two others, All About Eve (1950) and Titanic (1997), for most nominations of all time!

These nominations include Best Picture, Best Director (Damien Chazelle, who’s also nominated for Best Original Screenplay), Best Actor (Ryan Gosling), and Best Actress (Emma Stone).

When it comes to wins, the current record is 11 Academy Awards for a film, achieved by TitanicBen-Hur (1959), and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003).

With La La Land breaking the record last month with the most Golden Globe wins ever (taking seven trophies home), we may see them shatter the Academy Award record when we finally get to the ceremony next month!
