We are all still mourning the loss of one of America’s funniest women, Mary Tyler Moore, after her passing Wednesday morning.
The classic 70s TV show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, featured Moore as an independent career woman working as a news producer in Minneapolis. It inspired millions of women across the U.S., including former TV anchor and legendary talk show host Oprah Winfrey.
According to E! News, Moore shocked Oprah twice on Winfrey’s famous talk show. The first time was in 1993 when Moore phoned in and surprised Oprah on-air. The second time was in 1997 when Moore showed up on set unannounced and once again surprised Oprah on-air, leading Winfrey to break into tears as they hugged.
Speaking about Moore, Oprah said:
“When I was just starting out in TV, I was inspired by one woman whose show I never missed. I tuned in every week just to see her turn the world on with her smile.”
A compilation of these two clips have started going viral online following Moore’s sad passing, and while it’s hard to say goodbye, we’re glad she’s still able to bring join into people’s lives everywhere.
