If you’ve been on Facebook recently, you may have noticed a new update that’s caused the sound on videos to automatically turn on without you clicking on the video. While this may be a great feature for some, it’s been annoying for others who like to watch their videos in public without irritating everyone around them.
Fear not though, as a new report from The Mercury has revealed that there is a way to turn off this new feature!
If you’re one of the many people who doesn’t want others to listen to you watch the latest viral video, there are a few options available to fix the issue. If you’re an android user, from the Facebook app head to Help and Settings, followed by App Settings. On an iPhone, head to Account Settings, then Sound. Then, in both cases, go to Video in News Feed Start With Sound and switch it off.
If you’re looking for an even simpler option, you can also just leave your phone on mute whenever you use Facebook.
