Chrissy Teigan is always a very outspoken, open person. She is a “what you see is what you get” kind of woman (just look at her Twitter account). However, the one thing that she has not talked about until now was her postpartum depression after the birth of her daughter, Luna.
In an article from Glamour, Teigan talks about how even though everything seems so happy and beautiful in her life, something was off. Teigan at first blamed it on her living situaiton at the time of her daughter’s birth. “After I had Luna, our home was under construction, so we lived in a rental home, then a hotel, and I blamed whatever stress or detachment or sadness I was feeling at that time on the fact that there were so many odd circumstances. I remember thinking: “Maybe I’ll feel better when we have a home.” shey says.
However, even on set of “Lip Sync Battle”, where she co-hosts with rapper LL Cool J, she found herself out of character as well. “I would be in my dressing room, sitting in a robe, getting hair and makeup done, and a crew member would knock on the door and ask: “Chrissy, do you know the lyrics to this song?” And I would lose it. Or “Chrissy, do you like these cat ears, or these panda hands?” And I’d be like: “Whatever you want. I don’t care.” They would leave. My eyes would well up and I would burst into tears. My makeup artist would pat them dry and give me a few minutes.”
It wasn’t until her and her husband, John Legend, went to the doctor where she was diagnosed with postpartum depression. She was still suffering the symptoms, but was excited to get on the path to recovery.
Teigan still has her moments, but she is doing well, as always.
