I LOVED this moment in last night’s ‘The Walking Dead’ episode, and I might have audibly squeaked when it happened.
Paul “Jesus” Rovia, played by Tom Payne, came out as gay during last night’s episode in a quiet and unassuming moment, saying, “For the first time, I feel like I belong. When I was first here, I was never here. I always found it hard getting close to anyone; neighbours, friends…boyfriends.” This wasn’t really a surprise to many, as the character is gay in the comic the show is based on.
No but really, it is a big deal for a gay man like myself to see characters I can relate to, that aren’t vapid stereotypes, on television. He’s gay, and he’s a badass…Bravo AMC!
