The vegetarians are really going to miss out on this one.
A new study found that eating animal fat (like the kind you find on a juicy steak) could lower your cholesterol.
Newsweek reports that it’s often been believed that eating animal fat wasn’t good for you, and only fats that come from vegetables were the kind you should be eating.
While there are studies that go back decades in trying to find whether or not eating saturated fats is much worse than eating non-saturated fats.
Basically, the study found that replacing vegetable oils with saturated fats actually lowered a person’s cholesterol by an average of 14%. While it’s nice to think that it could lower your cholesterol, there’s a flip side. By eating more fats, you’re more at risk of developing certain diseases or cancers from eating too much fat.
We say that you should just enjoy that juicy steak. Just don’t go overboard.
