Sacramento Locations For National Drug Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day! So what does this mean? It means it’s time to empty out your medicine cabinets and get rid of any expired medication you have!

According to the Sacbee, Sacramento Law Enforcement will be collecting expired medication this weekend to help keep pills out of the water source and away from children, pets, and seniors. There will be 14 areas in Sacramento participating in the event! You can drop off your over the counter medications anonymously to any of the participating locations. The only thing the locations won’t accept are needles and liquids.

If you can’t make it out on Saturday, there are 20 year round collection locations located in Yolo and Sacramento county. A new location was just installed this week at Sacramento Police Department’s Public Safety Center at 5770 Freeport Blvd.

Heidi Sanborn, executive director of the California Product Stewardship Council, told the Sacbee that, “People need to have disposal options available year-round, not just twice a year,”

The one day event will be this Saturday, April 29th from 10 AM to 2 PM.
