Amazon Begins $70 Million Refund To Parents For Kids’ In-App Purchases

Amazon will begin to refund unauthorized purchases made by kids. The Federal Trade Commission reveals that Amazon is sending refunds for charges incurred between November 2011 and May 2016.

Consumers who are eligible to receive a refund should have already been emailed from Amazon. Those who believe that their child made an unauthorized purchase have until May 28th, 2018 to submit their request for a refund.

Just three years ago, The Federal Trade Commission sued Amazon for billing parents millions of dollars in unauthorized app purchases. Of course Amazon disputed these claims, but in court a federal judge ruled Amazon to be liable for the millions of dollars parents lost during in app purchases.
