Alanis Morrisette’s ‘Jagged Little Pill’ Is Being Adapted For The Stage

The musical adaption of Alanis Morissette’s 1995 album Jagged Little Pill will make a premiere at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge. According to, Playbill the performances will begin in May 2018. The director of this musical is Diane Paulus, a tony award winning artist.

 

The musical is set to feature a book by Oscar winning writer, Diablo Cody. The show will also showcase songs from Morissette’s Grammy Award winning album. The musical is set around a family that explores race, identity, and gender. Morissette says, “This team that has come together for this Jagged Little Pill musical is my musical theatre dream come true… the chemistry between all of us is crackling and I feel honored to be diving into these songs again, surrounded by all of this searing talent. Diablo and Diane are already taking these deeply personal songs that are part of my soul’s marrow to a whole other level of hope, freedom and complexity.”
