This is pretty awesome, especially considering most airline food is sub-par at best. (Unless you’re in First Class of course.)
The pizzas will come from United’s hometown of Chicago, specifically from Uno Pizzeria & Grill. So, the next time you fly United from the U.S. on a flight longer than 3 1/2 hours, you can buy a Chicago pie! United mixes up its menu a couple times a year and had been getting a lot of requests for pizza. And, if you’re wondering if pizza at 3500 feet will taste good, United says the pizzas fit in a skillet the airline already has for cooking other items, which they say will make the pizza taste good. United Spokesman Jonathan Guerin says, “We didn’t want to serve this iconic item in a dish that wasn’t going to do it justice. It ensures a nice, crisp crust.”
United is selling the Chicago-style pies for $9.99 or $13.99 for a pizza and Miller Lite combo. Look for United’s new menu starting July 1st.
