12 Year Old Redding Boy Recognizing Veterans By Placing Thousands Of Flags On Headstones

12-year old Preston Sharp of Redding visited his grandfather’s grave two years ago, and says he was disappointed to see that many of the veteran’s graves didn’t have flowers on them. He decided to fix that.

So Preston and his family started a GoFundMe to raise money so that they could put flowers on every veteran’s headstone in Redding and it’s surrounding counties.

Here’s a statement from the GoFundMe page: “On Veterans Day 2015, while visiting the grave of his grandfather at a Redding cemetery, then 10 year old Preston Sharp noticed the lack of flags or flowers on the graves to honor local veterans.  This both troubled and inspired Preston.  He was distressed that our local veterans were going unrecognized on such a momentous day and motivated to do something to change it.”

Preston has raised $30,305 out of his $500,000 goal.

He’s looking to honor “as many veterans as possible between Redding and Sacramento.”
