A newly discovered picture of what appeared to be Amelia Earhart drew a lot of attention last week. The picture seemed to show the pilot and her navigator in the Marshall Islands after her 1937 disappearance.
The photo became part of an investigation the History Channel special that aired on Sunday, but a Japanese blogger says the photo actually appears in a Japanese travel book that was published in 1935, two year before Earhart’s plane disappeared.
According to NBC News the History Channel says it will further investigate the blogger’s claim saying, “We will be transparent in our findings. Ultimately historical accuracy is most important to us and our viewers.”

So it’s back to the drawing board.
