Mark your calendar! August 22nd is when fares get cheaper for travel in the U.S. Why? Well, even though it’s still summer, that date signals the start of the fall travel season because not as many people are traveling because kids are back in school, meaning you can save on airfare. Savings varies depending on destination, but experts say you can save anywhere from 11-20% over summer prices, according to USA Today.
If you’re traveling internationally, fares generally go down starting August 21. Of course the best days to travel are still Wednesdays and Saturdays. For international travel, Mondays are generally cheaper.
