Chipotle Closes Restaurant Following Possible Norovirus Outbreak

Chipotle is once again facing an outbreak of norovirus…

According to FoodBeast, a location in Virginia has closed after thirteen people became ill after eating there, with two needing hospitalization.

Chipotle’s executive director, Jim Marsden, spoke with Business Insider about the outbreak, saying:

“[We]¬†are working with health authorities to understand what the cause may be and to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.”

He also implied that norovirus was the cause of the food poisoning:

“The reported symptoms are consistent with norovirus. Norovirus does not come from our food supply, and it is safe to eat at Chipotle.”

The affected restaurant will remain closed until a full sanitation cleanup is completed, though that might not be enough to entice some customers back.
