Today, when you visit Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort you can park free for 2 hours. Pretty cool right? If you park longer, you are charged every half hour until you reach the maximum daily rate of $36 a day.
But today it was announced that free parking will be no more starting on August 16! Attractions Magazine says, “Beginning on August 16, two hours of free parking will only be given to guests with a minimum purchase of $20 at any Downtown Disney location (including quick-service and kiosk locations). Guests visiting table-service restaurants or an AMC Theatres movie experience will continue to receive validation for 4 hours of free parking.
If you park at Downtown Disney beyond the validation period, you will be charged $6 per half hour, up to a daily maximum parking rate of $48 (up from $36/day previously). A 15-minute grace period is given for dropping off or picking up guests, but a minimum $6 will be charged once the 15 minutes have expired. As always, visitors to the theme parks are strongly encouraged to use the Mickey & Friends or Toy Story parking facilities, rather than those at Downtown Disney.”
