A Norwegian Cruise Line ship, appropriately named Escape, is on a cruise to nowhere until it can safely dock.
Two ships, Escape and the Norwegian Sky raced back to Miami to dock early because of Hurricane Irma. In the ruckus, some passengers ran into problems finding a flight out of Florida or a hotel that would take them in.
USA Today reports that the ship offered these people the option to sail back out to sea to wait out the storm. They hope to have the ship back in Miami on Tuesday, but that depends on when they open the port.
“At this point the plan is to go west,” she said. “We’re making every effort to have at least one port of call. If not, it will be a cruise to nowhere and everyone will have a good time,” Norwegian spokeswoman Vanessa Picariello told USA TODAY.
The good news? Passengers are being offered unlimited free booze.
