New AI Can Detect Alzheimer’s A Decade Before Symptoms

New AI has emerged from the University of Bari in Italy that can analyze MRI scans to locate changes in brain structure that can predict Alzheimer’s in patients.

According to the Times, the AI does not need to be told specifically what symptoms or changes to look for in brain scans to detect early signs of Alzheimer’s. It can automatically notice minute changes that may be easily missed by human eyes, meaning that the disease can be identified years before it progresses or even begins to show symptoms in the patient.
