Costco has launched two new delivery options for members. Starting this week, Costco will offer nearly 500 non-perishable items that will be delivered in two days, free of charge on orders over $75. Another service that will be offered at 376 of its stores will allow members to order from about 1,700 items, including fresh groceries that will be delivered same day. The move comes as Amazon is aggressively moving into the grocery space with its pantry and purchase of Whole Foods. Even though Costco’s net income is up 1.5 million from year to year for the quarter, they’re trying to be proactive saying, Costco has many advantages, including the fact that Costco competes on price whereas Amazon competes on convenience.
