Sam Shepard: Actor, Director, Playwright Dies At 73

Actor, director and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright has passed away after a long battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). He was 73.

Shepard appeared in more than 50 films and was nominated for an Academy Award in 1983 for his role as Chuck Yeager in The Right Stuff.

He also wrote 44 plays, including Buried Child, for which he won a Pulitzer Prize in 1979.

Shepard was in a 30-year relationship and has two children with actress Jessica Lange. The two never married, and have two children together. Shepard also has another son from a previous marriage with actress O-Lan Jones, according to NY Times
